Fairfield Beacons

Two of three ceramic beacons developed by AANF to Stage 4 to mark the entry points into the newly landscaped Fairfield public space in the heart of Croydon. An integral part of an international competition winning proposal for Croydon Fairfield, with a design team that included Atelier ANF, MICA Architects, Charles Holland Architects, Ooze Architects, Jeremy Rye Studio, Engineers HRW, and DHA Designs for Croydon Council. Six bespoke, screen-printed, vibrant tiles and tiling patterns based on local architectural landmarks representing every era of Croydon history were developed through a rigorous prototyping process, and worked up using UK skills and manufacturing and fabrication technologies to be able to create these large, complex mosaic canvases to grace the town centre as beacons of positivity, craft, heritage and diversity
